GLMM Self-Study Course + 10 Hours Statistical Guidance
This package combines the complete self-study GLMM course with ten hours of individual statistical guidance from Dr Alain Zuur.
Many researchers are able to follow a course and apply the methods to their own data, but occasionally it is helpful to discuss ideas, explore alternative approaches, or simply have an experienced statistician available to answer questions. This package is designed to provide that additional level of support.
The guidance sessions can be used at any stage of your project, whether you are planning an analysis, selecting an appropriate model, interpreting results, drafting a manuscript, or responding to reviewer comments. The aim is not only to help you complete your current project, but also to increase your confidence and understanding of GLMMs so that you can apply these methods independently in future research.
Rather than conducting the analysis on your behalf, Dr Alain Zuur acts as a statistical adviser and sounding board, helping you make informed decisions, avoid common pitfalls, and gain a deeper understanding of your data and analyses.
Includes:
- Everything included in the Self-Study Course
- Ten individual one-hour Zoom sessions

- Guidance on responding to reviewer comments
- Support valid for up to three years from the date of enrolment
Important
The support sessions are intended as statistical guidance and supervision. Participants are expected to undertake the coding, analyses and manuscript preparation themselves. The package does not include consultancy work in which analyses are performed on behalf of the participant.
Terms and Conditions
- The 10 hours statistical guidance is available only to the registered participant and may not be transferred to another individual.
- The package may be used for one research project or one PhD thesis. Use across multiple unrelated projects is not included and must be agreed in advance.
- Zoom sessions may include supervisors, collaborators or co-authors, provided that the registered participant is present.
- Participants may record Zoom sessions for their own personal use. Recordings may not be distributed, shared with third parties, uploaded online, or used for teaching or commercial purposes.
- We recommend a complimentary intake Zoom meeting before commencing the support package. This meeting allows us to discuss the project objectives, assess whether the package is suitable, and agree on how the support hours can best be utilised.
- Support is limited to topics within the scope of Generalised Linear Mixed-Effects Models (GLMMs) and related statistical methodology covered by the course.
- Support time is charged in one-hour blocks. Any work undertaken outside Zoom meetings, including reviewing R code, reading manuscript drafts, evaluating analyses, preparing written feedback, or reviewing reviewer comments, is deducted from the available support hours.
- Our advice is based on the information provided by the participant. Participants are responsible for explaining their study design, data structure, objectives and analytical questions as clearly as possible.
- The package is intended to provide statistical guidance and supervision. Participants are expected to undertake the coding, analyses and manuscript preparation themselves. The package does not include consultancy work in which analyses are performed on behalf of the participant.
- No guarantee is given regarding publication outcomes, acceptance of manuscripts, successful grant applications, or the outcome of peer review.
- Support hours are valid for three years from the date of enrolment. Any unused hours expire after this period.
- Appointments may be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours' notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice, or failure to attend a scheduled meeting, may result in the loss of that support hour.
- Discounts for students from low-income and lower-middle-income countries may be considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to availability.
Co-authorship
Offering co-authorship to Dr Alain Zuur is entirely at the discretion of the participant and their co-authors. The Research Support Package does not require co-authorship on any resulting publication. Participants are encouraged to follow the authorship guidelines and academic practices of their institution and target journal when determining whether statistical contributions should be recognised through co-authorship or acknowledgement.
